Complete guide to using luma-photon
Generate images at incredible speed and strong value with Photon Flash on ApiPass. This text-to-image model creates images directly from prompts and is well suited for rapid prototyping, high-volume image generation, mood boards, social content, and budget-conscious creative workflows.

Photon Flash is a Luma text-to-image model that generates images directly from natural language prompts. It is optimized for fast turnaround and affordable image creation, making it a practical choice when you need to test many concepts, iterate quickly, or produce large batches of atmospheric visuals. Through ApiPass, Photon Flash runs as an asynchronous REST API: create a task, poll the task record, and retrieve generated image URLs from the normalized CDN result.
Submit a prompt describing the image you want to create and Photon Flash returns generated image URLs after asynchronous processing. It works well for cinematic scenes, everyday realism, atmospheric concepts, and quick creative exploration.
Use POST /api/v1/jobs/createTask to create a generation task, save the returned data.taskId, then poll GET /api/v1/jobs/recordInfo until the state becomes success or fail. Successful tasks return resultJson as a JSON string containing resultUrls.
Optionally provide callBackUrl when creating a task. ApiPass will send a completion notification to your endpoint using the same response structure as the Query Task API, so you can build event-driven workflows without constant polling.
Photon Flash is optimized for rapid generation, helping teams explore more ideas in less time. It is especially useful for early-stage visual development, prompt testing, and creative direction where speed matters.
With reference pricing of $0.005 per image and the regular channel configured at 5 credits per image, Photon Flash is built for batch generation and large-scale experimentation while keeping costs predictable.
Photon Flash performs well on mood-driven prompts with lighting, environment, and emotional tone. Add details such as cozy interiors, neon light, rain, sunrise, or quiet city atmosphere to guide richer results.
Generate many visual directions quickly before committing to final production. Photon Flash is ideal for testing scene ideas, compositions, moods, and prompt variations at low cost.
Build automated workflows for producing large batches of images for internal review, creative exploration, content testing, or draft assets. ApiPass handles asynchronous task creation, polling, callbacks, and result URL normalization.
Create atmospheric images for storyboards, campaigns, product inspiration, or creative briefs. Prompts that include lighting, setting, texture, and emotion help Photon Flash produce more expressive outputs.
Generate quick visuals for posts, stories, thumbnails, and campaign experiments. Photon Flash helps content teams iterate on multiple visual styles without slowing down the publishing workflow.
Choose the model based on whether your workflow prioritizes maximum speed and affordability or higher-quality final outputs.
Photon Flash is optimized for the fastest generation and the most cost-efficient workflows. It is best for high-volume generation, prompt testing, rapid prototyping, draft assets, mood boards, and budget-conscious creative exploration.
Photon is positioned for enhanced output quality and final deliverables. Use Photon when visual fidelity is more important than minimum cost or maximum throughput, and use Photon Flash when you need faster iteration at scale.
Photon Flash pricing is listed at $0.005 per image. This is approximately 200 generated images for $1, making it suitable for experimentation and high-volume generation.
The current regular channel is configured at 5 credits per image and is billed per image. Final task charge may depend on the channel and the actual task record.
At the reference rate, 100 images cost about $0.50 and 1,000 images cost about $5.00. This flat per-image structure makes Photon Flash a strong fit for batch prompt testing and bulk creative exploration.
Describe the image you want to generate. Include subject, scene, mood, atmosphere, lighting, composition, and style. The prompt field is required and cannot be empty.
Send a POST request to https://api.apipass.dev/api/v1/jobs/createTask with model set to luma/photon-flash and your prompt under input.prompt. Optionally include callBackUrl and channel.
Save data.taskId from the create response and call GET /api/v1/jobs/recordInfo?taskId=YOUR_TASK_ID until state is success or fail. When successful, parse resultJson and read resultUrls to access the generated image CDN URLs.
All APIs require authentication via Bearer Token.

Submit a new Luma Photon Flash text-to-image generation task. The task runs asynchronously and returns a task ID for status polling.
The API accepts a JSON payload with the following structure:
1{
2 "model": "luma/photon-flash",
3 "callBackUrl": "string (optional)",
4 "channel": "auto",
5 "input": {
6 "prompt": "string"
7 }
8}modelRequiredstringThe model name to use for generation. This value is fixed to luma/photon-flash.
"luma/photon-flash"
callBackUrlOptionalstringCallback URL for task completion notifications. If omitted, no callback will be sent.
"https://your-domain.com/api/callback"
channelOptionalstringYou may specify the corresponding provider within APIPASS via the channel parameter; these providers handle the actual image and video generation tasks. APIPASS currently offers three provider options:
The default value for the channel parameter is auto. When enabled, APIPASS automatically allocates tasks across available providers based on real-time pricing and stability metrics to balance minimal cost and reliable performance. Retain the default auto value unless you have custom routing requirements.
Available options:
auto
The input object contains the following parameters:
input.promptRequiredstringText prompt for image generation. This field is required and must not be empty.
Provide a clear description of the desired image, including subject, scene, style, lighting, mood, and composition. The prompt cannot be empty.
"A cinematic ocean wave at sunrise, highly detailed"
